EXTRA POINTS:

CALIFORNIA CAR: This is a rust free, black plate California car. It simply doesn’t get more classic, or prestigious than that!

BEST OF THE BEST: This is an extremely RARE find. Very few top-of-the-line 1961 Plymouth Fury’s exist in any condition. This is among the finest in existence.

LOW MILEAGE: This time-capsule Fury, driven just 56K original miles, maybe the finest original low mileage example in existence. Two sets of original keys AND the original window sticker are included.

SURVIVOR CLASS: To find any car of this era as beautifully preserved and well maintained as this Fury is nothing short of miraculous. No restoration can capture the spirit of a survivor class original car.

PICASSO OF PLYMOUTHS: Simply put the 1961 Plymouth is an avant-garde, mid-century modern work of art. The body sculpt, front, side and rear is a radical departure and distinctively different than vehicle that had come before … or has after.

SCI-FI STYLING: In 1961 Plymouth took space age styling to the outer limits. Unlike its Chrysler Corp cousins, Imperial, Chrysler, Desoto and Dodge, the rear fenders are conspicuously finless. Instead, an unexpected single “finette” sits on the center of the trunk lid.

THAT FACE: Extraordinary by any standards, the flamboyant front-end design puts the 1961 Plymouth into a class of out of this world styling all by itself.  No other car of its time had a front end quite as extreme.

COLOR CHAMELEON: The color, Plymouth calls it fawn beige, looks different in every light. It goes from a warm creamy peach to rich creamy coffee and every shade in between.

FORWARD LOOK: 1961 Plymouths are among a legendary line up of Virgil Exner designed cars manufactured by Chrysler Corporation between 1956 and 1961 promoted as “THE FORWARD LOOK.”

BLING, BLING: Another outstanding feature of this Plymouth is the beautifully preserved chrome, pot metal and aluminum trim, inside and out, including the center ‘fin’ on the trunk lid.

IMMACULATE INTERIOR: It’s always a thrill to find a car with a factory original interior but few are as well preserved as this. The steering wheel, instruments, dash pad, headliner, package tray, carpet, upholstery and door panels are in excellent condition.

AERO WHEEL: No other steering wheel out does 1961 Plymouth’s out-of-this-world optional clear with gold glitter square wheel.

PERFORMANCE: This Fury drives a nice as it looks. The 318 V-8 is peppy and powerful, the pushbutton Torqueflite transmission shifts strong and smooth, the brakes are sure and steady, and the ride is tight. And of course, it has Chrysler Corp’s legendary torsion bar suspension provides superior handing and agility, which no GM or Ford product of the day can compare.

This 1961 Plymouth Fury is MORE than an American classic … MORE than mid-century modern masterpiece, it’s a WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURE … not to mention infinite source of American pride. Behold the glory!

ABOUT CHARLES PHOENIX AUTO SALES

Collecting, curating and trading space age classic cars has been a big part of my life for the last 40 years, (I started young, LOL). But not just any old car will do. SURVIVOR CLASS is my favorite class of classic cars. Call me a purist because that’s what I am. Granted, I have a wandering eye for ALL kinds of cars but the classic cars that are as close to the way they rolled off the assembly line are the ones I cherish most. Yep I like them factory original, unrestored, unaltered and as low-mileage as possible.

The history of a classic car is very important to me too. Where it’s from, who bought it new, who has owned it since and anything else that adds to the story. The more maintenance records and memorabilia that come with the car the better.

At this point American space age classic cars (JOYRIDES as I refer to them in my YouTube videos) are more than just classic, more than midcentury modern masterpieces, they are WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURES … and an infinite source of American pride. Behold the Glory !!!
