Smoking in Bed, 1960
Many people smoke in bed but few are photographed doing it. Few smoke with a another in such perfect harmony. The synergy between these two summer pajama-clad women is amazing. And the standing-on-the bed-view of them is inspired to say the least. But the crowning touch is that bellybutton balanced ashtray complete with a butt on the bias sitting in a bed of its own ashes.
This is very favorite smoking slide ever!

If this wasn’t 8 years later I would swear these 2 were on a road trip with the lady mixing drinks in the blue bathroom sink! I love this slide!

I am sure, I have similar pictures of my mom, my sister, and unfortunately myself. I do miss those smoking days…I just quit 15 months ago (who’s counting?).
I met some wonderful people thoughout “my smoking period”. We would have to go outside and be in our “own space” to smoke at restaurants, clubs, bars, and most of all DODGER GAMES!!!

Charles, you were observant enough to point out that the photographer was standing on the bed but you didn’t finish the scenario. Both of these smokin’ ladies are wearing wedding rings and lingerie, I’m betting that one of their spouses is in his boxers and while he is taking their picture, they are getting a show of their own. That would explain the hysterics!! Never miss your slides, thanks!
